All PADI training centre staff are medically trained and certified in CPR.  Our course instructors are some of the most friendly and highly qualified personnel you'll find in the UK and the training team is headed by a platinum rated Course Director!

John Bartlett - Managing Director

John (age 61), a former racing driver (1979 – 1993) and Helicopter Pilot, started Scuba Diving in 1969 with BSAC at the age of 16, switching allegiance to PADI in 1997, becoming a PADI Instructor the following year.

John used to run all in-water training for Maidstone Scuba until late 2012 as a PADI Master Instructor. He now handles course phone enquiries and all on-line course bookings. Interests outside diving include, reading, cooking and old ‘creaky’ films. John’s first novel: Chequered Justice’  a fast paced legal thriller, alternating between the glamorous high octane world of the race track and the dry sterile reality of the British justice system was published in 2010 and is available in hardback , paperback Kindle eBook and AudioBook.

 A former PADI Assistant Instructor, Mary (age 58), John's long term PA and wife deals with general admin.  She started diving around 10 years ago (trained by John) and when not immersed in paperwork also runs Maidstone Therapies (click for more information) and teaches the Lyre.

Andrew (Age 48) lives in Aylesford.  He was active in the Scouting movement, gaining the highest achievement, the Queens Scout Award. He currently works as an IT manger for The National Bank of Abu Dhabi in London. Andrew started diving in 2003 with Maidstone Scuba and completed all his dive training with Maidstone Scuba School qualifying as PADI  Instructor in 2005.  When not diving Andrew enjoys football and is qualified FA referee.
